My adventures with Amateur Radio and Geocaching! My new Pathtag has finally arrived! June 24, 2015.
Big mountain, small voice, many ears. Last weekend was a contest double-bill with the Remembrance Day and Lighthouse contests. Receiver strip, now with replacement audio stage using a TDA7052. Instead of the prescribed LM380. 867MHz IF filter, SA612 product detector, TL072 op amp, 2N2222 BFO. With a 10MHz IF and 3MHz VFO, which sounds sweet.
The rantings of VK2GAZ on his SOTA experiences in Australia. Scheyville National Park VKFF-444 Revisited. This gallery contains 6 photos. Scheyville National Park was last visited on the 25th April, 2015 and a great time was had making 43 contacts. Solar controller, fan and wiring.
This is the homepage of VK7BEN. My interest in Amateur Radio started when I was introduced to the hobby by my electronics teacher at college in 1996. Between 1996 and 1998 I was one of the operators of VK7ACR, Rosny College. I passed my standard exam and became VK7HAH in July 2006 before finally passing the advanced exam and obtaining my current callsign of VK7BEN in March 2007. And miniaturisation allowing things like high altitude balloons.
Well this is my first attempt at blogging, following in the footsteps of many other Amateur Radio operators. I am not sure how often I will post here, but I hope that some of what I post will be of interest to others, and may help some to get into this fantastic hobby of Amateur Radio.

With Winter hitting us here in VK5 and cold, wet and windy conditions it has made for some very short expeditions out to activate VI5MCP. We were using a vertical on 20m and an inverted V on 40M with the KX3 running 10W. So, as of right now, this gives us 55 contacts and 6 countries in the logs. not too bad considering that it is the middle of winter! The next activity will be on Saturday where we will be running a 100W 20m station with a 2 ele beam looking for EU. Clublog of the last 50 contacts.
